Loweree appointed to represent District 7 on EPISD School Board
The El Paso Independent School District Trustees on Thursday morning appointed Mickey Loweree, a parent and PTA officer, to fill the District 7 seat on the Board.
Loweree was appointed by a unanimous vote following a thorough vetting process that included a community forum organized by students at Coronado High School and a round of interviews by the Board of Trustees.
“We welcome Ms. Loweree to the Board and thank the other two applicants for their interest in serving the children of El Paso,” said Board President Trent Hatch. “The Board looks forward to working with Ms. Loweree in our continued efforts to support the creation of innovative programs that will benefit the students of every corner of the District.”
Loweree, 47, will take the oath of office during the Nov. 16 board meeting and serve out the unexpired term of former Trustee Dori Fenenbock, who resigned earlier this fall. That term ends in May 2019.
A longtime EPISD volunteer who currently serves as an officer with the EPISD Council of PTAs, Loweree has a long history of service to EPISD. She served on previous bond accountability and strategic planning committees.
The Board selected Loweree from a field of three applicants and received input from community members and employees. The other two applicants were Putnam parent and business owner Daniel Call and former EPISD Trustee Michael Hicks.
