EPISD Education Foundation now accepting scholarship applications for Class of 2023

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Jan. 17, 2023) – Scholarships sponsored by the EPISD Education Foundation and the organization’s partner funds are now available and easily accessible through the Going Merry web platform.

The platform – available at goingmerry.com – was introduced two years ago to El Paso ISD students, giving them a streamlined website to apply for multiple scholarships.

Students must first build a profile in Going Merry’s secure platform to access applications and get matched to eligible scholarships. The platform allows students to save documents and essays to re-use across applications. It also includes an auto-fill feature that draws information from the student’s profile information, making it easier to fill out multiple applications. Information is not shared with other entities or organizations.

Among the scholarships available through Going Merry in addition to the traditional $1,000 EPISD Education Foundation Scholarship, which is available to all EPISD seniors, are:

  • Ann Yerby Memorial Scholarship for students who are interested in a career in education (Paso del Norte Community Foundation Scholarship) – $1,000
  • Coach Lou Robustelli Memorial Scholarship for seniors graduating from Bowie or Burges high schools (Paso del Norte Community Foundation Scholarship) – $1,000
  • Genevieve Gonzalez Scholarship for seniors who have an interest pursuing a career in foreign languages (Paso del Norte Community Foundation Scholarship) – $1,000
  • Alejandro Acosta Memorial Athletic Scholarship for Austin High students (scholarship amount and number of scholarships pending)
  • Raul Moriel Memorial Scholarship for an El Paso High student pursuing a STEM major – $5,000
  • Angel's Buddies Scholarship for Bowie High students pursuing a career in education – two scholarships for $500

The deadline to apply is March 24, 2023.
