(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Feb. 21, 2023) – The Bowie High School community hosted the inaugural Jardin and Cocina Gala on Friday, Feb. 17, to benefit the campus’ flourishing culinary program.     

The gala is scheduled took place in the Bowie High School cafeteria, 801 S. San Marcial. The dinner provided donors with a taste of the Bowie culinary program, led by chef Jaime Villanueva, and will provide funding to enhance the culinary and agricultural programs at the campus.   

The culinary students are learning to cook with sustainable and locally sourced ingredients grown by Bowie Bear agriculture students. Friday's menu consisted of roasted beet soup, beef tenderloin and a chocolate tart.   

The Bowie Jardin and Cocina program is largely supported by the Paso del Norte Community Foundation.
