Fire Department trains Austin students on CPR
(AUSTIN HIGH SCHOOL -- Sept. 29, 2021) — The Bee Gees “Stayin’ Alive” helped the Panther New Tech students keep a steady rhythm during their CPR training with the El Paso Fire Department.
The music is all part of a weeklong courses Austin freshmen enrolled in teh Panther New Tech/Sandra Day O'Connor Public Service Academy go through to complete basic first aid, CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) training from the El Paso Fire Department Community Risk Reduction team.
Students took turns practicing two minutes of uninterrupted chest compressions with the fire department mannequins at the rhythm of “Stayin’ Alive”.
“I love it. It’s something that we need. I’m really looking forward to helping our community,” said freshman Danny Moreno.
