Impact Aid Census can help EPISD recuperate federal funding
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Sept. 19, 2019) — Families with ties to the federal government can help EPISD recapture funding designed to help students who live on property owned or operated by the U.S. government.
Through the Federal Impact Aid Census, districts like EPISD can identify students and families who live on property that is exempt from property taxes. These properties, therefore, could lead to recaptured funding for EPISD that helps offset the cost of educating students.
Those families who qualify are:
- Military students living on and off federal land
- Students living in federal public housing on federal land
- Students with a parent who reports to work as a civilian on federal land
- Students with a parent who reports to work at a school located on federal land
- Students with a parent who reports to work for a contractor on federal land
To identify these families and determine funding, EPISD emails a Census Form to all parents. The electronic census form is used to submit EPISD’s application for funding.
Parents should look for the email, click on the link for the online form and follow the instructions to submit their information. The District will email an email for each child enrolled in EPISD. It is important to open and submit information for each student using the individual emailed link.
