Read Across the District celebrates love of books in EPISD

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Nov. 19, 2021) — Students throughout EPISD at 10 a.m. today dropped everything they were doing to pick up a book and read for at least 30 minutes. It was all part of the annual EPISD Read Across the District Initiative aimed at developing the love of literacy among students.

Librarians organized fun reading events at their campuses and invited guest readers, including local celebrities and newsmakers, to come read a book with their students.

The official kickoff event of this year’s Read Across the District happened at the new Don Haskins PK-8 School, where Dr. Carla Gonzales, EPISD’s Associate Superintendent of Academics & School Leadership, read “Say Something!” by author Peter H. Reynolds to a group of attentive Sun Bears.

Check out the photos of the official kickoff event as well as a round-up of other RAD events from throughout the District!
