(BURGES HIGH SCHOOL – June 5, 2023) – The Alienware E-sports Village landed at the Burges High School quad Thursday giving students and the community a chance to try out the latest in gaming from Dell.

The E-sports Village gave students a chance to check out a variety of video games including Fortnite, Rocket League, Redout, Among Us, Hogwarts Legacy and many others. The event was open to students Thursday and Friday.

“We’re here at Burges High School to show off our products and show that e-sports and our gaming lounge supports all kinds of career choices for students interested in getting into streaming and gaming,” said Ryan Wright, Alienware experiential tour manager. “There’s a whole world out there that they can have a career in with this industry.”

Sophomore Zuriel Calderon loved spending time in the gaming lounge. He was most impressed by the high-quality graphics and speed of the 12 PCs and the cool set up of the lounge. 

“E-sports brings people together,” he said. “Competitive gaming is fun. You can even do it as a professional job which would be like every child’s dream.”

The self-professed gaming nerd wants to become an engineer but plans to have gaming as a side hustle by starting up his own Twitch channel.

“This is my thing,” he said. “I’d love to work playing video games, but you have to get really lucky because there are so many people wanting to do it.”

Senior Brooklyn Woods enjoyed playing Hogwarts Legacy and casting spells.

“It’s super cool,” she said. “I was wondering how they transported the lounge here. They had everything needed to game. It was nicer than the Xbox I have at home.”

Senior Andrew Routledge enjoyed his time in the gaming lounge – especially because it was during the school day. He often turns to gaming himself to unwind at home.

“It’s something I do to relax and take my mind off things,” said Routledge, who plans to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio to study architecture. “It was cool to have this here. You never have this stuff at school. It was a nice reward for our hard work.”
