Visitor Guidelines

Visitors to Nixon:

In light of recent events throughout the U.S., we are increasing our security efforts at Nixon ES.  We want to ensure that your child has a safe environment to enjoy learning.  In order to do this, we have established the following policies/procedures:

  • Mornings: Hallways need to be clear by 8:15 a.m.  If students are tardy, they will get a tardy slip in front office and Nixon staff will escort them to class if necessary
  • Lunch/Recess: Parents/Guardians are invited to join their student for lunch on Fridays.  We will have seating available for you & your student in the community room.  You must check in with front office, and obtain a visitor badge.
  • After School: The doors/gates will be unlocked at 3:20 p.m. for pick up, but not before 3:20 p.m.  Parents/Guardians, please stay in foyer/main hallway/etc. until bell rings at 3:25 p.m.
  • During School Day: Doors/Gates will be locked from 8:15 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.  The front door will be open, and ALL visitors must check in with front office and get a visitor badge.  Anyone wanting to visit the campus during school hours, must have an expressed purpose, i.e.  program, meeting, parent conference, PTA, etc.

Additionally, between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., you will be required to show a form of identification at the door before coming into the front office. An office employee will buzz you in after presenting your form of I.D. to the camera at the front door.

As part of the routine security protocol you will stop by the office and get your I.D. scanned, and obtain a badge before proceeding further in the building.  Anyone that is in the building (aside from drop off/pick up), will be asked to have their badge visible; or will need to report immediately to the front office for a badge.

Please note- you will be required to show identification to enter the building- no exceptions.

Student safety is a priority for all and we appreciate your cooperation while we initiate this additional security protocol.
