EPISD cafeteria employee tests positive for COVID-19
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- April 24, 2020) — The El Paso Independent School District was notified today that a Food Service employee who works at Logan Elementary has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is currently self-quarantining at home.
Logan Elementary is meal distribution site and will be closed down until further notice. Powell Elementary, 4750 Ellerthorpe, will be used as an alternate meal distribution site.
“The District is concerned about the news of one of its own testing positive for this virus and we wish for a speedy recovery. We are in contact with the employee and will continue to provide any assistance,” said Superintendent Juan E. Cabrera. “We have taken precautions to maintain the safety of our meal distribution sites and will continue our commitment to provide healthy food to our students during these difficult times.”
All employees who worked with this staff member have been asked to self-quarantine for the next 14 days and will not report to work. Logan Elementary will be sanitized thoroughly.
Out of an abundance of caution, any family who picked up meals at Logan this week, are advised to monitor their health, follow the CDC guidelines for people who have had close contactand contact their primary care physician if they develop symptoms.
EPISD will continue to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed.
