Enloe named permanent special education assistant superintendent
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- April 1, 2019) — The District announced that Laurie Enloe has been named the permanent assistant superintendent for special education and special services effective today.
Enloe, who had served as the interim assistant superintendent since January, is a veteran educator who has spent 25 years in public education serving previously as principal, diagnostician and special-education teacher.
She took over the helm at the special education department from Emigdio Gonzalez, who served as interim lead for special education after the departure of former assistant superintendent Stacy Venson last fall.
“The special education department serves some of our most vulnerable students and Ms. Enloe has the leadership and foresight to continue our efforts to provide high-quality services to them and their families,” said Superintendent Juan E. Cabrera. “In her brief time as interim superintendent she implemented positive changes and improvements that already are making a big difference.”
EPISD’s Special Education Department will have an Information Fair for parents with students with special needs in an effort to introduce Enloe to the community and gather input on ways the District can continue to serve students.
The fair is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on April 23 at the EPISD Professional Development Center, 6500 Boeing Building K.
