(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Oct. 11, 2021) — The sound of music was heard throughout the region this weekend as marching bands from around El Paso gathered at the annual University Interscholastic League Regional Marching Band Contest.

EPISD marching bands performed at amazing levels with Andress, Burges, Chapin, Coronado, El Paso High, Franklin, Irvin and Jefferson/Silva high schools receiving Division 1 ratings from the judges – the highest rating given. These bands now qualify to march and compete in the UIL Area Marching Contest.

Austin and Bowie high schools received a respectable Division 2 rating, marking a promising turnaround to their band programs.
