Burges High celebrates 60th graduation ceremony in school history
(BURGES HIGH SCHOOL -- May 25, 2019) — More than 330 students received their diploma during the 60th commencement exercises of W.H. Burges High School during a solemn ceremony at the Don Haskins Center Saturday evening.
The graduation included students from the Burges Early College, who have earned an associate’s degree from El Paso Community College and a high-school diploma simultaneously.
Students and parents enjoyed speeches, photo galleries and even a drum performance during the ceremony.
Burges’ Class of 2019 earned more than $10 million in scholarships and funding for post-secondary education.
The class valedictorian is Nicholas Lopez, who will study engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso; and the salutatorian is Mark Casteel, who will study orthodontics at New Mexico State University.
