Hatch resigns from EPISD Board of Trustees
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Feb. 16, 2019) — El Paso Independent School District Board President Trent Hatch announced today that he no longer lives within the geographic district he represents on the Board and therefore has vacated his position.
Hatch’s resignation is effective immediately. Trustee Bob Geske, who had served as vice president, will assume the lead on the board until May when new officers are selected.
“Mr. Hatch has been a true leader in helping us reach unprecedented levels of educational attainment,” Superintendent Juan Cabrera said. “On behalf of the entire district, its students and employees, I wish to thank him for his years of service and dedication.”
Hatch’s place on the Board will remain vacant, pending the results of the May 4 EPISD Board of Trustees election. Hatch did not file to seek re-election on the Board. Three people are vying for that position.
Hatch represented the Franklin feeder pattern on the EPISD Board. He was first elected to the Board in 2015.
During his tenure, the District improved its academic ratings and implemented new innovative programs aimed at updating teaching and learning. He also was part of the Board that helped pass two Penny Swap elections and the Bond 2016 initiative that is helping to modernize the District.
