Jefferson/Silva kicks off third day of EPISD graduations
(JEFFERSON/SILVA HIGH SCHOOL -- May 27, 2019) — The third day of the 2019 season of El Paso Independent School District graduations kicked off with the commencement ceremonies for Thomas Jefferson/Maxine Silva Health Magnet High School Monday morning at the Don Haskins Center.
Graduates and attendees celebrated the accomplishments of the graduates but took the time this Memorial Day Monday to honor the fallen military heroes that fought for the United States. Graduates asked all attendees to stand in silence with their hands over their heart in remembrance of those who sacrificed everything.
Jefferson graduated 187 students who collectively earned $5.7 million in scholarships and post-secondary education funding. The valedictorian for the Class of 2019 is Cynthia Ivette Fierro and the salutatorian is Elvis David Falcon.
Silva graduated 166 students who earned a total of $9.6 million in scholarships. This year’s valedictorian is Jia Ling Diau and the salutatorian is Disha Ganjegunte.
