Alpha initiative launches Operation:Warm Hearts
(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT -- Dec. 2, 2020) — EPISD’s Alpha Initiative in partnership with Joe, Vinny & Bronsons Bohemian Café today launched Operation: Warm Hearts – a donation drive of child-size winter clothing, hygiene products and PPE benefiting the El Paso Child Crisis Center and the YWCA Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center.
The drive began today and will run through Dec. 17. Donations of new winter clothing (jackets, pants, shirts, socks, beanies, gloves, shoes), hygiene products (diapers, wipes) and PPE (face masks and hand sanitizer) can be dropped off at one of the sites accepting donations.
The donations will help both child-serving centers cope with the upcoming winter weather and offset a potential decline in donations due to the pandemic. The donated items will benefit EPISD students who are residing in the centers and are having a difficult time being placed in foster homes becasue of the pandemic.
Drop-off sites are open during school hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The sites are:
- Joe, Vinny & Bronsons Bohemian Café, 824 N. Piedras (weekend and extended hours).
- Andress High School main office, 5400 Sun Valley.
- Burges High School library, 7800 Edgemere.
