(CORONADO HIGH SCHOOL -- Dec. 1, 2021) — Coronado senior Julianna Creme took top prize in the student category at the annual Chalk the Block Festival downtown last month. 

Creme, who drew on the pandemic as inspiration for her artwork, earned a $600 prize. 

“The whole point of the drawing was about new beginnings or coming into a new era,” she said.

It was Creme’s second time participating in Chalk the Block and hopes to continue competing in the annual event even after high school.

“I really like the environment of it – how people walking around looking at the art,” said Creme, who plans to pursue an art degree. “I play music and my family helps me. That’s fun for me.”
