Dear El Paso ISD,
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, the excitement and joy of end-of-year festivities are palpable throughout our district. From award assemblies to field days and various celebrations, there is a vibrant sense of achievement and community spirit everywhere you look.
One example of this spirit was seen on Friday, May 31, when several El Paso ISD students who recently completed work in the Project Search program were honored during a ceremony at Providence Memorial campus. This program empowers students with disabilities to secure jobs through internships. Thank you, Empowering Hands, Emergence Health Network and Hospitals of Providence, for being great partners in education.
Furthermore, we are witnessing student success in every corner. The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council delivered compelling and informative presentations to the Board of Trustees and leadership on Wednesday, May 29. The students shared insights on a wide range of school-related matters, highlighting areas of opportunity impacting their respective campuses.
Continuing this trend of success, our commitment to preparing students for life beyond high school was highlighted at the 2nd Annual Healthcare Expo and Hiring Fair. Nearly 400 graduating Health Science students, equipped with TEA-recognized certifications, showcased their readiness to address community healthcare shortages. It's inspiring to see them engaging in professional conferences and interviews, ready to step into crucial healthcare roles.
Additionally, our recent attendance at the 2024 West Texas Adolescent Health Conference allowed students to enhance their knowledge on positive youth development, mental health, and prevention of vaping and tobacco use. Empowering our students with these insights aligns perfectly with our mission to nurture well-rounded individuals ready for future challenges.
We held our last Teacher Advisory Council (TAC) meeting of the 2023-24 academic year. TAC meets on a monthly basis to engage in constructive discussions focusing on co-designing impactful strategies to improve the educational experience for both students and educators. Thank you to the Teacher Advisory Council for your contribution to ensuring a bright future for El Paso ISD.
Looking ahead, I'm excited to announce that a new website will launch next school year, providing a user-friendly platform that reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation. This website will serve as a hub for information, resources, and updates, allowing us to better connect with our students, families, and community members.
In addition, to stay true to our mission of partnering with our families, we are implementing a two-way communication tool. This tool will facilitate open and transparent communication between the district and our stakeholders, fostering collaboration and engagement in support of student success.
I invite all families to explore the exceptional opportunities we offer here at El Paso ISD. From all-day PreK-3 and Montessori education to top-tier athletics and outstanding fine arts, there's something here for every child to thrive and succeed. Our focus on providing excellence in education is evident as we celebrate milestones like Tippin Elementary School's 20th anniversary, adding to our 140-year legacy of educational excellence.
