Dear El Paso ISD,
It is with great pride that we celebrate the dedication and commitment of our employees who have reached 25 years or more of service with El Paso ISD.
At the core of our success are the people who make up our district. From teachers to custodians, bus drivers to administrators, everyone plays a vital role in shaping the excellence that defines El Paso ISD. Your hard work and dedication are not only appreciated but essential to the growth of our community and the success of our students.
Recently, the University of Texas at El Paso hosted its Match Day event, where students eagerly found out which school district they will be serving in the Fall. Joining our team are 41 students from UTEP's Miner Teacher Residency Program, who will bring inspiration and empowerment to our learners. Welcome to El Paso’s district!
Speaking of student success, two exceptional seniors, Archelaus Paxon and Angela Rivas, from Chapin High School, have been awarded the prestigious 2024 Gates Scholarship. They were chosen from a pool of over 53,000 applicants from across the nation. For the full story click here.
I want to congratulate The Hornedo Middle School Orchestra Program for their outstanding performance this school year. Winning a record-breaking nine awards with Superior ratings is a remarkable feat and a testament to their talent and hard work.
We are dedicated to collaborating with our community to offer enriching opportunities for our students. A special thank you to CommUNITY En Acción for their generous donation, which allowed over 250 students to experience the film "The Long Game," a story of overcoming obstacles.
We are also continuing our Bilingual Dual Language parent information meetings. Visit our website for more information.
Graduation season is quickly approaching, starting on June 10 at the Don Haskins Center. Education serves as the great equalizer, and I am excited to celebrate this important milestone with our students and their families.
The El Paso ISD Board of Trustees approved the revised academic school calendars for 2024-25 and 2025-26. For more details, please visit episd.org/approvedcalendars.
As we prepare to observe Memorial Day, let us take a moment to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. El Paso ISD will be closed on May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Regular hours will resume on May 28.
It Starts With Us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
