(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 15, 2024) — El Paso ISD officials and Coronado High School students and staff celebrated the completion of the campus’ $68.3 million dollar construction improvement project.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday, May 13 to mark the momentous occasion.
Some of the new features inside the newly renovated Coronado campus include modernized classrooms, new parking facilities, a state-of-the-art field house and numerous other improvements.
“These new upgrades will help to provide a supportive learning environment for our students to thrive in and out of the classroom,” said Coronado High School Principal Dr. Angela M. Reyna. "The vision for Coronado is to continue to provide a top-quality educational environment for a diverse group of students."
Additionally, funds were allocated to revitalize the Coronado gymnasium and courtyard, giving the areas a fresh, modern look.
Monday’s celebration capped off the end to the historic $668 million bond projects.
The 2016 bond, approved by voters, facilitated the modernization and optimization of some El Paso ISD campuses through school consolidations, new classroom constructions, significant athletic upgrades, outdoor areas, integration of cutting-edge technology and the establishment of new fine arts facilities.
