(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – April 19, 2024) — El Paso ISD is inviting the community to take part in the inaugural Raise the Bar Games and Military Expo. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 4, at Chapin High School.
The family-friendly event will showcase the talents of students from across 15 campuses. There will be several physical activities for elementary, middle and high schools as well as fun games for younger children. In addition, the event will feature a diverse array of competitions that are currently integrated into the program curriculum, such as the newly implemented Kickstart Kids program. The event is made possible through the El Paso ISD Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) grant.
Lisa Mendez, the DoDEA project manager, said the grant specifically allocates resources toward the establishment of vertically aligned academic programs, ensuring consistent educational opportunities for military connected students.
“The Raise the Bar Games and Military Expo serves as a remarkable platform for students to demonstrate their talents and accomplishments,” Mendez said. “The expo fosters a sense of community and pride among military-connected families and the wider community.”
Some Chapin High School JROTC cadets will also take part in a friendly competition that showcases essential skills related to military service.
