(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – March 4, 2024) —El Paso ISD is proud to announce a new appointment in its Police Services division. Denby “Donica” Pedregon will now serve as Lieutenant for the district’s police services.
Pedregon who became the first female police sergeant for the district in 2021— now becomes the first female to earn the rank of lieutenant with El Paso ISD Police Services.
“I feel honored to be promoted to lieutenant,” Pedregon said. “I strived to ensure that we continued to help the district and this department grow. Additionally, just like we want El Paso ISD to become the destination district, we also work hard every day to become the destination police department.”
Pedregon was selected for the position after a vigorous selection process. Her hard work and determination were noticed by the department which led to her being selected for the promotion. Pedregon said she hopes her promotion will serve as an inspiration for other women in law enforcement.
“I hope it helps other women in law enforcement see that there is opportunity and, despite obstacles, you can overcome it,” Pedregon said. “I also hope it serves as an inspiration for our female students who wish to join law enforcement.”
El Paso ISD Police Chief Manuel Chavira formally swore Pedregon to the role of lieutenant Friday, March 1, during a ceremony at El Paso ISD Police Services headquarters. During the swearing-in process, Chavira commended Pedregon on her commitment to protecting students and staff at El Paso ISD.
Pedregon is a U.S. Army combat veteran with more than 15 years in experience in law enforcement, including 10 years with El Paso ISD.
