(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Feb. 27, 2024) — A unique competition is giving El Paso ISD students a chance to showcase their knowledge to the world.
History Day is a project-based competition that promotes intellectual growth and academic achievement. The district-level contest, known as El Paso History Day, was held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the University of Texas at El Paso.
More than 100 El Paso ISD students participated in the event. The winners from the local contest will compete at the state competition in April. The top two winners from each category at the state level will then qualify for the National History Day competition in June at the University of Maryland.
For the competition, students must choose a historical topic, research it, and present their findings in papers, exhibits, performances, videos, or websites. There are two categories: junior (grades 6-8) and senior (grades 9-12), and eight categories available for students to enter.
