(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Feb. 20, 2024) — El Paso ISD’s San Jacinto Adult Learning Center was awarded a $25,000 grant from Dollar General on Tuesday, Feb. 20, to support the campus’ literacy programs.
The donation was formally recognized during an event Tuesday at a Dollar General store in Sunland Park, New Mexico.
“It gives us the opportunity to better prepare our students for the actual GED because we get vouchers with this money, not only for the practice test, but also the actual test,” said Bertha Rodriguez, San Jacinto Adult Learning Center school director.
Dollar General’s founding family established the Literary Foundation 30 years ago to help people of any age to pursue their educational goals and achieve their dreams.
The San Jacinto Adult Learning Center was built in 1905 and currently functions as a space to help adults find jobs or start a career. It also helps adults to develop basic English language skills and to further their education.
