Tippin students dressed up in cowboy attire for Texas Day

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Feb. 1, 2024) — The Lone Star State’s fierce spirit of independence is recognized each Feb. 1 on National Texas Day, and schools throughout El Paso ISD celebrated with style.

Students at Tippin Elementary School showed off some country dance style moves during their physical education class. The kids learned how to line dance while listening to classic country music. The activity helps children to stay physically fit while also having fun.

Staff also set up different stations outside of the classroom, so the kids could get in another workout by playing some fun cowboy-themed activities such as a game of horseshoe and relay races.

Some students dressed up for the occasion, donning cowboy hats and denim attire. Staff and parents say the activities not only help students stay active, but the events also create wonderful memories.

National Texas Day began in 2017 as part of a large effort to pay tribute to each of the states throughout the year.
