(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – September 30, 2024) — El Paso ISD, in collaboration with Marathon Petroleum, is proud to announce its involvement in this year’s El Paso Giving Day. Marathon Petroleum has generously offered a $5,000 matching grant during the early donation period from October 10 to October 17. Proceeds from Marathon’s match will benefit students at Jefferson High School and Bowie High School, ensuring they have access to enhanced educational opportunities.

This matching grant means that for every dollar contributed during the early giving period, Marathon Petroleum will match donations up to $5,000. This initiative doubles the impact of contributions, helping support a variety of education programs, including those spearheaded by El Paso ISD’s Education Foundation.

The El Paso Giving Day campaign will also focus on supporting El Paso ISD's role in hosting the 2025 Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Annual Conference, taking place March 29-31, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. The student councils from Burges and Coronado High Schools will proudly represent the district as hosts of this major event. Funds raised during El Paso Giving Day will help ensure that these students have the resources they need to make the conference a success and highlight El Paso ISD's commitment to leadership and student achievement.

The Education Foundation plays a crucial role in advancing educational excellence within the district. Since its founding, the foundation has provided scholarships to graduating seniors and supported innovative classroom projects that enrich the learning experience for students. Through grants, scholarships, and initiatives like El Paso Giving Day, the foundation supports programs that make El Paso ISD a premier district in El Paso.

“El Paso Giving Day provides a crucial opportunity for our community to come together and support education in El Paso. Thanks to Marathon Petroleum’s match, every donation made during early giving will have double the impact, helping us better serve our students and teachers,” said Superintendent Diana Sayavedra.

This year's Giving Day is an important opportunity for El Paso ISD to diversify its giving initiatives, expanding beyond scholarships and teacher funding to include broader district-wide efforts, such as hosting statewide conferences and fostering leadership opportunities for students.
