(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – October 2, 2024) — El Paso ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Monica Chavez as the new Director of School Transformation with the Office of Organizational Transformation and Equity. Chavez brings with her over 26 years of experience in education, specializing in leadership, instructional improvement, and school transformation initiatives.
Chavez has held numerous key roles within El Paso ISD, including her most recent position as Coordinator of Accountability and Assessment, where she played a pivotal role in aligning district practices with state requirements and supporting school leaders with data analysis and instructional strategies. Chavez has also worked as the Title I Instructional Coordinator for the Accelerating Schools Division. In that role, Chavez led efforts to improve the performance of campuses identified by the Texas Education Agency, developing and monitoring Targeted Improvement Plans that focused on enhancing teacher and student performance.
Chavez has also been instrumental in facilitating professional development programs for district and campus leaders, covering topics such as data-driven instruction, lesson plan feedback, and learning walk practices.
In her new role, she will be focused on driving transformational efforts across the district's schools, leveraging her expertise in data analysis, professional development, and targeted improvement plans to elevate student and teacher performance.
Her deep commitment to student success and her extensive background in education make Chavez a valuable asset to El Paso ISD as the district continues its journey toward academic excellence.
