El Paso ISD community,
On Tuesday, the El Paso ISD Board of Trustees made a significant decision to approve the Destination District Redesign (DDR) recommendation plan, which includes the closure of eight campuses, across two phases, starting in the 2025–26 school year. While this decision was necessary to preserve and strengthen our district and ensure our students have access to a high-quality public education, we understand that it is a challenging reality for all of us. Our schools are more than just buildings—they are places where memories are made, friendships are forged, dreams are realized, and communities come together. I am committed to continuing to strengthen our schools and uplift our communities.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in this process, especially the families who attended meetings and provided constructive feedback. Your voices have been essential in guiding this process, and we must continue to work together to ensure that every student in our district has access to a high-quality education in a well-supported learning environment.
For the families and students transitioning to new campuses, we are fully committed to supporting you every step of the way. The well-being of our students is our top priority; therefore, school & district staff will be on hand to support you through the transition. We will continue to communicate updates, provide resources, and, most importantly, prioritize your family's needs.
Change isn’t always easy, but it is necessary. Together, we will navigate these changes and emerge stronger, united by our passion to secure success for the children of El Paso.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and dedication to our students and their futures.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Diana Sayavedra
Superintendent, El Paso ISD
