(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – February 6, 2025) – El Paso ISD is going red for Heart Month, hosting a series of events and initiatives throughout February to raise awareness about cardiovascular health among employees and the community.
The district kicked off the month with a Blood Pressure Initiative, bringing free blood pressure checks to campuses across the district. In collaboration with EPCC nursing students and Premier Clinic personnel, the goal is to screen as many employees as possible, identify elevated blood pressure early, and encourage timely treatment. To incentivize participation, employees who get their blood pressure checked will be entered into a raffle.
Another key event is National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 7, in partnership with the American Heart Association. Employees are encouraged to wear red to raise awareness for heart disease, the leading cause of death in the U.S. Staff members are invited to share their photos on social media using #WearRedDay to spread the message of heart health.
“We are proud to support Heart Month through these initiatives that promote awareness and encourage our employees to prioritize their heart health,” said Cecilia Bueno, Onsite Health Coach for El Paso ISD. “By taking small steps, such as monitoring blood pressure and making heart-healthy choices, we can help prevent cardiovascular disease and improve overall well-being.”
El Paso ISD remains dedicated to fostering a culture of wellness, ensuring employees have access to resources that promote lifelong health. For more information about the Blood Pressure Initiative and other information, please click here.
