Principal Roberto Padilla

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – February 18, 2025) – El Paso ISD proudly announces the appointment of Roberto Padilla as the new Principal of the Specialty Campuses, including CCTA, Delta, and Telles Academy. A dedicated educator with 27 years of experience, Padilla brings a wealth of knowledge in instructional leadership, student support, and innovative campus transformation.

A proud Bowie High School alumnus, Padilla has spent his career shaping student success in El Paso ISD. His journey in education began as an English Language Arts teacher and coach, where his dedication to students earned him the Teacher of the Year award at Austin High School in 2005. He later became the head football coach at Bowie High School, where he became the all-time winningest coach in the school's 100-year history.

Padilla’s passion for school improvement and student-centered learning led him to administrative leadership roles at Bowie, Jefferson, and across the district. As an Assistant Principal at Jefferson High School, he oversaw academic departments, facility operations, and college readiness initiatives. He played an instrumental role in coordinating campus construction projects and ensuring compliance with key student support programs.

Prior to Jefferson, Padilla was a Small Learning Community Administrator at Bowie High School, where he played a key role in the campus transformation effort. His leadership in restructuring Special Education (SPED) programs, implementing social-emotional learning (SEL), and developing career pathways in Sports Science and CTE helped create new opportunities for students.

Padilla also served as a Transformation Zone Fellow, working with district leadership to redesign high school CTE-based programs of study and implement Small Learning Community models. His expertise in strategic planning, curriculum alignment, and campus improvement has positioned him as a forward-thinking leader in student success.

As he takes on the role of Principal of the Specialty Campuses, Padilla is committed to ensuring that students at CCTA, Delta, and Telles Academy receive the support, resources, and opportunities they need to excel academically and beyond.

“El Paso ISD is dedicated to providing pathways to success for all students,” Padilla said. “I am excited to step into this role and continue working alongside our educators and students to create learning environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.”

Padilla holds a Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from New Mexico State University.
