EPISD Claudia Moreno

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – Feb. 26, 2025) – El Paso ISD is proud to announce the appointment of Claudia Moreno as the new principal of Coldwell Elementary School. Moreno, a dedicated educator with more than 25 years of experience, brings a deep passion for student success and a commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment.

Originally from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Moreno’s journey in education is deeply personal. As an Emergent Bilingual student, she navigated the challenges of learning a new language and adapting to a different educational system when she arrived in the U.S. as a high school freshman. These experiences ignited her lifelong dedication to supporting students and families on their own educational paths.

Moreno holds a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in bilingual education from the University of Texas at El Paso. Throughout her career, she has served as an elementary and middle school teacher, an elementary school counselor, and an assistant principal. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom, having also contributed to teacher and parent development through her work at UTEP’s College of Education and Region 19.

For the past 14 years, Moreno has been a valued leader within El Paso ISD, serving as a counselor at Vilas Elementary and as an assistant principal at Guerrero, Bliss, and Sunrise Mountain Elementary schools. Now, as she takes on the role of principal at Coldwell Elementary, she looks forward to cultivating a learning environment where students not only excel academically but also develop the social-emotional skills necessary for lifelong success.

“I am honored and excited to join the Coldwell Elementary family,” Moreno said. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated teachers, staff, and families to create an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.”

El Paso ISD welcomes Moreno into her new role and looks forward to the positive impact she will have on the Coldwell Elementary community.
