(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Mar. 3, 2025) — El Paso ISD mariachi programs once again showcased their exceptional talent at the 2025 UIL State Mariachi Festival, earning top ratings and solidifying the district’s reputation for excellence in fine arts.

Franklin HS mariachi teamFranklin High School’s mariachi program earned the prestigious Superior rating for the second consecutive year, demonstrating the program’s consistency in high-level musicianship and performance. Meanwhile, the mariachi groups from Austin, Chapin, and Coronado high schools earned Excellent ratings, further proving the dedication and skill of El Paso ISD’s student musicians.

“We are incredibly proud of all our mariachi programs for their outstanding performances at the UIL State Mariachi Festival,” said El Paso ISD Fine Arts Executive Director Phillip Barraza. “Their hard work, discipline, and passion for music continue to elevate our district’s fine arts programs, and we are excited to see them achieve such well-deserved recognition.”

The UIL State Mariachi Festival, held annually in Seguin, Texas, is a prestigious competition that brings together the best mariachi ensembles from across the state. The event not only highlights musical talent but also celebrates the rich cultural traditions of mariachi music.

With these outstanding performances, El Paso ISD mariachi groups continue to build a legacy of excellence, inspiring future generations of musicians and representing the district with pride on the state’s biggest stage.
