(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – March 18, 2025) – Six El Paso ISD schools have earned a spot on the prestigious 2024 Texas Honor Roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP). These schools were recognized for their high performance and commitment to improving student outcomes, particularly for historically underserved student populations. The following schools have earned the Star distinction:
• Silva Health Magnet
• Transmountain Early College High School
• Hornedo Middle School
• Milam Elementary
• Polk Elementary
• William C. Herrera Elementary
The Texas Honor Roll recognizes schools that are consistently high performing, with a focus on closing achievement gaps and improving student outcomes. The schools on this list have demonstrated comprehensive excellence in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) assessments in both Reading Language Arts and Math, across all student populations, including those from economically disadvantaged and special education backgrounds.
“We are extremely proud of these schools and their hard work in ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed,” said El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra. “This recognition speaks to the dedication of our students, teachers, and staff, who work tirelessly to foster a learning environment where all students can thrive.”
The Texas Honor Roll is part of the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE) and recognizes schools and districts based on objective student achievement data. In 2024, only 12% of eligible schools in the state were selected, making this an extraordinary accomplishment for the El Paso ISD schools recognized.
“The District has worked diligently and strategically to implement a guaranteed and viable curriculum to meet the diverse needs of all learners from Kindergarten to the 12th grade,” said Chief Academic Officer Adalberto Garcia. “Curriculum in all core areas are aligned to high quality instructional materials and resources providing students access to rich, rigorous learning experiences.”
To be eligible for the Honor Roll, schools must demonstrate consistently high performance in STAAR assessments over the past three years, particularly in the areas of Math and Reading Language Arts. The data also emphasizes the importance of closing achievement gaps, specifically for socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
