Purple Up!

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – April 14, 2025) — El Paso ISD is proudly joining communities across the nation in celebrating Purple Up! Day on Tuesday, April 15, to honor military-connected students.

The district is encouraging all students, staff, and community members to wear purple in recognition of the nationwide initiative that celebrates the important role military children play in schools, communities, and families. The color purple represents the combined colors of all military branches—symbolizing support for children in Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force families.

El Paso ISD is home to more than 8,000 military-connected students, with 68 Purple Star-designated campuses, the most in El Paso County and among the top in the state. This prestigious designation from the Texas Education Agency recognizes schools that go above and beyond to meet the unique needs of military families.

The district’s commitment is evident through programs that help students navigate transitions, find community, and stay on track academically—whether their families are stationed on Fort Bliss or elsewhere around the globe.

As a reminder, El Paso ISD encourages families and staff to share photos from Purple Up! Day on social media using the hashtag #PurpleUpEPISD to help spread awareness and celebrate the courage of military-connected students.
