(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — May 1, 2025) — Cheers, high-fives, and unforgettable moments of joy filled the air at Burges High School as El Paso ISD celebrated the 7th annual Unidos Games—an inclusive, two-day athletic event that showcased the talents, teamwork, and determination of hundreds of exceptional student-athletes from across the district.
More than 500 elementary students participated on day one of the event, followed by middle and high school students who took the field on day two. Athletes competed in a variety of events designed to promote fun, inclusion, and physical activity in a safe and supportive environment.
In the weeks leading up to the games, students trained through structured performance practices—building endurance, confidence, and camaraderie. Families, educators, and community members filled the stands, transforming the field into a vibrant arena of encouragement and pride.
First launched in 2018 with just over 300 participants, the Unidos Games has grown into one of El Paso ISD’s most beloved annual events—highlighting the district’s commitment to whole-child development and equitable access to opportunity.

“I think it’s important to learn to value all of our students, and it’s also important to cherish their abilities,” said Veronica Reyes, El Paso ISD Assistant Superintendent of Specialized Learning Services. “We learn from them as much as they learn from us.”
As another successful year of the Unidos Games comes to a close, El Paso ISD continues to champion inclusion and celebrate the unique strengths of every student.
