(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 6, 2025) — Mandi McIntyre, a dedicated Kickstart instructor at Navarrete Middle School, has been named the 2025 West Texas Kickstart Instructor of the Year—an honor that recognizes excellence in leadership, instruction, and student impact across the region.
McIntyre, who joined Kickstart in 2023, brings a background in Taekwondo and a passion for student development. Her approach combines martial arts instruction with mentorship, helping students grow not just in strength and skill, but also in character.
“Ms. McIntyre embodies the values of discipline, respect, and perseverance that define the Kickstart program,” said Navarrete Middle School Principal Nuri Robles. “She has created a supportive and empowering space for our students, and this recognition is a testament to the impact she’s had in such a short time.”
Kickstart is a nationally recognized program developed in partnership with martial arts legend Chuck Norris. While rooted in martial arts, the program focuses heavily on life skills—emphasizing integrity, responsibility, teamwork, and goal setting. At Navarrete, it has become a cornerstone initiative, providing students with a unique opportunity to grow physically, emotionally, and socially.
McIntyre’s influence has been felt far beyond the training mat. Colleagues and students alike praise her for her encouragement, discipline, and high expectations—all of which inspire students to raise the bar for themselves in and out of the classroom.
“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized and I couldn’t have done it without the amazing support of Principal Robles and the rest of the staff at Navarrete” McIntyre said. “I also want to thank Jeremy McQuivey, my Kickstart Training Instructor, for his support and mentorship. I did not get here on my own, and I am grateful for everyone who has helped me. The biggest reward is seeing the confidence and pride my students carry with them every day.”
El Paso ISD congratulates Mandi McIntyre on this outstanding achievement and thanks her for her continued dedication to student success through the power of martial arts and character education.
