(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 8, 2025) — The Coronado High School baseball team is hoping to bring home a state championship as they continue their postseason run in the UIL playoffs.
The Thunderbirds are officially Bi-District Champions after a strong showing. Now, the team is preparing to face Byron Nelson High School in the area round of the Class 6A state playoffs.
The two teams will square off in a best-of-three series at Midland High School:
• Game 1 – Friday, May 9 at 7 p.m.
• Game 2 – Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m.
• Game 3 (if necessary) – 30 minutes after Game 2
Led by strong pitching, consistent hitting, and a tight defensive unit, the Thunderbirds have shown grit and determination throughout the season. Their recent playoff success reflects the hard work and chemistry they’ve built on and off the field.
As they take the next step in the postseason, Coronado will look to carry their momentum into Midland and continue making school history.
