Dear El Paso ISD,
We would like to take a moment to extend our deepest condolences to the families impacted by the recent flooding in New Mexico and Central Texas. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we offer our heartfelt sympathies. El Paso ISD stands with you in support during this challenging time.
Moments like these remind us how important it is to come together as a community, to uplift one another, and to celebrate the people who continue to make a difference every day. This week, we proudly cheered on our two Teachers of the Year, Sandra Iglesias from Cielo Vista Elementary and Mary Bejarano from Hornedo Middle School, as they advanced to the next stage of the Region 19 Teacher of the Year competition. Sandra and Mary continue to inspire us with their dedication to students and passion for education. The regional winners will be announced in August, and we wish them both the best.
I also want to highlight the amazing work of our students this summer through our Community Schools mural project in Segundo Barrio. Students from Guillen, El Paso High, and Bowie joined community partners to restore and create vibrant murals that honor the culture, strength, and history of one of El Paso’s oldest neighborhoods. Their work is a beautiful reminder of the impact our students can make beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate the Class of 2025 summer graduates on Tuesday, July 15 at 9 a.m. at UTEP’s Magoffin Auditorium. These students have shown perseverance and determination, and we are so proud to recognize their accomplishments.
And don’t forget, El Paso ISD’s 40th annual Summer Musical is just around the corner! Our talented students will light up the stage with Chicago: Teen Edition from July 16 to July 19 at 7 p.m. at the Coronado High School Auditorium. Admission is free, and we invite everyone to come enjoy an unforgettable evening of music, dance, and fine arts excellence.
We have been working diligently to ensure a fantastic start to the 2025-2026 school year. As we approach the first day of school, there’s so much excitement ahead. Looking forward to seeing you at our Back-to-School Fiestas, July 29–31, across all 10 of our traditional high schools.
It’s the perfect way to kick off the new year with our community. For more information, visit episd.org/fiesta.
It starts with us.
Sincerely,
Martha Aguirre
