Lisa Lopez

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – July 29, 2025) — El Paso ISD proudly announces the appointment of Lisa Lopez as the new principal of Don Haskins PK-8. A seasoned educator and leader with nearly 30 years of experience, Lopez brings a deep commitment to academic excellence, student empowerment, and inclusive school culture.

Lopez joins Don Haskins PK-8 after serving as assistant principal at Coronado High School and director of principal preparation at Sul Ross State University. Her leadership experience spans traditional public schools, charter institutions, and higher education, giving her a unique and well-rounded perspective to lead a dynamic PK-8 campus.

Throughout her career, Lopez has held a variety of leadership roles, including principal positions at multiple campuses throughout the El Paso region. She has also worked in postsecondary and medical education as assistant director of education for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s residency program.

Lopez holds a Master of Education in Administration from Sul Ross State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her career has been marked by key accomplishments.
