(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Aug. 25, 2025) — El Paso ISD principals and district leaders gathered Thursday at the Professional Development Center for Leadership by Design, professional development centered on celebrating successes and building strategies to move the district forward.
Interim Superintendent Martha Aguirre addressed attendees, commending the district for academic gains and earning a “B” rating in the 2025 Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings. She emphasized that El Paso ISD’s work is far from finished. The district’s goal is to achieve an “A” rating by continuing to strengthen instructional practices, invest in leadership development, and maintain a student-centered focus.
“Earning a ‘B’ rating is an achievement that reflects the dedication of our educators, leaders, and students,” Aguirre said. “But our goal is higher. Together, we will continue to grow, innovate, and ensure that every child in El Paso ISD has access to an exceptional education.”
Leadership by Design is part of El Paso ISD’s long-term vision to transform schools into learning communities where innovation, equity, and academic excellence thrive. The initiative provides principals and administrators with tools, coaching, and professional development opportunities to strengthen leadership capacity across the district.
Discussions centered on identifying the factors that led to the district’s recent successes while also addressing areas for growth. Leaders reflected on strategies to improve student outcomes, strengthen campus cultures, and continue building a Destination District where students, families, and staff feel supported and empowered.
