(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Sept. 3, 2025) — El Paso ISD has appointed Jesus Acosta as the new principal of Cooley Elementary School, where he will lead students, teachers, and staff into the 2025–26 academic year.
Acosta brings extensive leadership experience and a proven commitment to student success to his new role. Before joining Cooley Elementary, he served as the Director of Connecting Languages. He also served as the principal of Zavala Elementary School where he was instrumental in leading instructional programs and fostering a community-centered learning environment. He has also held leadership positions at Herrera Elementary and Franklin High School, showcasing his versatility in both elementary and secondary education settings.
Throughout his career, Acosta has focused on fostering a positive school culture, building strong community partnerships, and ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality education.
