(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT —Oct. 8, 2025) — El Paso ISD is proud to announce that 10 additional campuses have earned the prestigious Purple Star Campus Designation, bringing the district’s total to 63 schools recognized for their commitment to serving military-connected students and families.
The Purple Star Designation is awarded by the Texas Education Agency to schools that demonstrate a significant dedication to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students. Requirements include appointing a campus-based military liaison, creating a transition program for new students, maintaining a dedicated webpage for military families, and supporting a military family initiative.
This year’s newly designated campuses include:
Austin High School
Charles Middle School
Irvin High School
Lundy Elementary School
Mesita ECDC at Vilas
Milam Elementary School
Moreno Montessori
Kohlberg Elementary School
Richardson Middle School
Tom Lea Elementary School
El Paso ISD educates more than 8,000 military-connected students each year, making it one of the largest concentrations in Texas. The district’s commitment is reflected in the fact that more than half of its campuses now hold the Purple Star designation.
“Earning this designation shows how deeply El Paso ISD values and supports our military families,” said Cecilia Perez, principal of Moreno Montessori. “At Moreno Montessori, we work to ensure that every child, whether they’ve lived here all their life or just arrived from across the world, feels welcomed, supported, and celebrated. This recognition reaffirms that commitment.”
