A Message from Austin High School:
Austin High School stands proudly as one of El Paso’s most historic campuses. Since opening its doors in 1930, Austin has remained a place where tradition, resilience, and community spirit shape generations of Panthers.
As the city’s second-oldest high school, Austin carries a legacy rooted in honor and excellence—represented each day by the iconic “A” on the mountain, first painted in 1931 and lovingly maintained by alumni and volunteers. That spirit of pride lives on in every student who walks our halls.
At Austin High School, students have access to a wide range of academic pathways, innovative programs, and opportunities designed to help them thrive. Our P-TECH Early College program allows students to earn an Associate of Arts degree or industry certification before graduation. Panthers also benefit from Advanced Placement, and Dual Credit courses, giving them a strong foundation for college and career success.
Austin is also home to the renowned Sandra Day O’Connor Criminal Justice/Public Service Academy, a collaborative program supported by community partners including the FBI, U.S. Border Patrol, Fort Bliss, the El Paso Police and Fire Departments, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and EPISD Police. Students gain hands-on experience in fields such as law enforcement, firefighting, and law—preparing them to serve their community with integrity and leadership.
With comprehensive before- and after-school programs, tutoring, meals, and dedicated support systems—including our proud designation as a Texas Purple Star Campus—Austin High School stands committed to meeting the needs of military-connected families and all students seeking a strong, supportive school community.
