(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — December 19, 2025) — As the holiday season unfolds, campuses across El Paso ISD are coming together to uplift students, families, and the community through acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. From gift-giving initiatives to longstanding traditions rooted in service, these moments reflect the heart of the EPISD community.
Irvin High School’s “Irvin Angels” Brings Joy to Students
Now in its ninth year, the Irvin Angels initiative continues to make the holiday season brighter for students. As part of the program, students write letters before Thanksgiving sharing their holiday wishes. With support from teachers, families, local organizations, and community members, the campus works to fulfill as many requests as possible.
Some students ask for shoes or clothing, while others request meaningful gifts—such as flowers for a parent or cash to help purchase something special for a sibling.
“We have been very fortunate that our community, including our teachers, local organizations, and families, comes together to help us get gifts for our students,” organizers shared. “Seeing students receive these gifts is incredibly heartwarming, and we do our best to make the holiday season special for them.”
Jefferson Silva High School Illuminates the “Wave of Love”
Jefferson Silva High School continued its beloved Wave of Love tradition with the annual Lighting of the Heart, a symbolic gesture of support for patients at nearby El Paso Children’s Hospital.
The illuminated heart, visible from the hospital, serves as a reminder that students, staff, and the community are thinking of those spending the holidays receiving care. The tradition has become a powerful expression of unity, hope, and compassion during the season.
Former Jefferson student Evelyn Langlet shared what the event meant to her.
“Jefferson is always going to be in my heart. All the staff was there to help me during a rough time in my life,” Langlet said. “I’m glad to be here and honored to be part of something so meaningful. This event really touched my heart.”
EPISD Supports Annual Toys for Tots Campaign
El Paso ISD once again partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps for its annual Toys for Tots campaign, encouraging students, staff, families, and community members to donate new, unwrapped toys for children across the region.
The districtwide drive, held from December 1–12, demonstrated EPISD’s commitment to service and giving, ensuring that more children experience joy during the holiday season.
Dr. Torres Elementary Gives Back Through Canned Food Drive
At Dr. Torres Elementary, students and families came together to support the community through a successful canned food drive. The campus celebrated the generosity of its families and recognized standout participation.
The effort highlighted the power of teamwork and kindness, reinforcing the importance of giving back at an early age.
Across El Paso ISD, these holiday traditions showcase the district’s commitment to community engagement, whole-child development, and service—values that continue to shine well beyond the season.
