(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Jan. 20, 2026) — Hawkins Elementary School was recognized on Friday, January 16, by the Council on Regional Economic Expansion and Educational Development (CREEED) as part of its newly launched Achievement for All initiative, which honors top-performing elementary schools across El Paso County.
Hawkins Elementary earned the distinction for demonstrating strong student achievement in both reading and math on the Texas STAAR exams. The award highlights campuses where academic success is being achieved by all learners, regardless of background.

The Achievement for All initiative recognizes schools based on a combined measure of overall student performance and the performance of economically disadvantaged students who met state standards in reading and math. By including both measures, the initiative underscores the belief that high expectations and strong instruction can lead to success for every child.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire Hawkins Elementary community,” said Principal Rafael Guardado. “Our teachers, staff, and students show up every day committed to learning and growth, and this honor affirms the belief that every student can achieve at high levels when supported and challenged.”
