The Classroom and Beyond

People stand around a table at a community meeting

Families, staff and community members participate at a recent Community Conversations event.

Public education is, at its core, a shared responsibility. Every day, we work to ensure that our students are supported, challenged, and prepared for the opportunities ahead of them. That work is strongest when it is guided not only by data and experience, but by the voices of the community we serve. Over the last few weeks, we’ve enjoyed meeting with each of you at our campuses.

These Community Conversations represent an important part of the process of listening and learning in order to set the vision for the next five years. I want to sincerely thank our families, staff, students, and community members who have taken the time to join these discussions and share their perspectives. These conversations reinforce something we know to be true: the strength of El Paso ISD lies in our people and in our shared commitment to doing what is best for students. As this work continues, I encourage those who have not yet participated to join an upcoming Community Conversation or complete the online survey, as every voice helps inform the path forward for our district.

Young Achievers Forum

Across El Paso ISD, we are focused on providing strong collegiate and vocational pathways for our students. I was so proud to see nearly 500 sixth graders from our middle schools and PK-8s show up in such strong numbers, supported by their families, to represent at the Young Achievers Forum hosted by Community en Accion at the UTEP campus. We are committed to providing diversified opportunities for our learners to envision and forge fulfilling futures, and to support them as they realize their dreams.

As someone who understands firsthand the impact athletics can have on a person’s life, I am so thrilled for our students who have signed with colleges and universities, earning opportunities made possible through hard work, perseverance, and commitment both in the classroom and in competition.
