(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT — Mar. 23, 2026) — El Paso ISD invites the community and prospective families to experience a world without borders at the Connecting Worlds / Mundos Unidos Gifted & Talented (GT) Expo and Showcase on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Mesita Elementary School.
The student-led, exposition-style event will highlight the exceptional work of the district’s only language magnet program. Attendees will see firsthand how Mesita Elementary and Mesita ECDC students utilize their trilingual English-Spanish-Mandarin education to tackle complex, real-world challenges. Information on how to enroll in the program will also be available for families.
“This showcase is more than just a display of projects; it’s a celebration of the unique intellectual and cultural journey our students embark on every day,” said Laila Ferris, Principal of Mesita Elementary. “By blending Gifted and Talented instructional strategies with trilingual immersion, we are equipping our scholars to be global thinkers. We invite the community to see how our students are solving problems today to become the leaders of tomorrow.”

The Connecting Worlds / Mundos Unidos program offers a proven academic pathway that begins at the early childhood level and continues through Wiggs Middle School and El Paso High School. Mesita attracts families from across the region who are seeking a rigorous, multicultural environment that prepares students for success in a global economy.
