(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT - April 14, 2026) — El Paso ISD CCTE (Center for Career and Technology Education) students proved they are among the elite in career and technical education, bringing home multiple top honors from the SkillsUSA Texas State Competition recently held in Corpus Christi.

CCTE SkillsUSACompeting against the brightest students from across the state, EPISD participants showcased their mastery in fields ranging from high-tech cybersecurity to intricate cosmetology. The district's showing was highlighted by three Gold Medal finishes, a Bronze Medal, and a First Place Ribbon for a Job Exhibit.

Additionally, three exceptional students earned the honor of representing both El Paso ISD and the State of Texas at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this June:

Cybersecurity: Russell Witcher Jr. (Andress High School) and Spencer Enochs (Franklin High School) took 1st Place in a field that demands rigorous technical precision.

Nail Care: Abigail Lopez (Franklin High School) secured 1st Place, demonstrating elite artistry and professional skill.

CCTE SkillsUSAThe district's success extended across a diverse array of categories, proving the strength and depth of EPISD’s CTE pathways:

Automotive Quiz Bowl: The powerhouse team of Kyle Duncan (Coronado), Jose Morales (Austin), Thomas Martel (Franklin), Ian Read (Chapin), and Cristian Castillo (Coronado) took home 1st Place.

3D Visualization and Animation: Logan Alarcon (Coronado) and Miguel Palomares (Franklin) earned a 3rd Place finish for their digital creativity.

Cosmetology Job Exhibit (Flat Nail Art): Alexandria Loya (Franklin) was awarded a 1st Place Ribbon for her outstanding exhibit.
