(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 5, 2026) — El Paso ISD has named Kristen Villasenor as the new principal of Herrera Elementary School, bringing more than 20 years of experience in education and a strong background in instructional leadership, campus systems, and student support.
Villasenor previously served as assistant principal at Tippin Elementary, where she supported curriculum implementation, monitored student achievement, and led campus initiatives focused on attendance, discipline, and academic growth. Her previous leadership experience also includes serving as assistant principal at Nixon Elementary, where she helped guide the campus from a D to a C accountability rating, as well as roles in instructional coaching and at-risk coordination.
Villasenor holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso and also holds a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Texas Tech University. She is committed to fostering a collaborative, student-centered environment where all learners are supported and empowered to succeed.
