(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 15, 2026) — The final bells of the school year are just around the corner, but at El Paso ISD, the energy isn’t winding down, it’s ramping up. With exactly three weeks left until summer break, the district is launching the “Right Here. Right Now.” Attendance Challenge, turning the final stretch of the semester into a high-stakes competition for prizes and bragging rights.
This isn’t just about checking a box; it’s a district-wide push to ensure students finish the year as strong as they started. And the rewards? They’re worth showing up for.
The Stakes: Block Parties and Big Prizes
From now through the end of the year, every day a student spent in class counts toward a massive community win.
• For the Campus: The schools that maintain the highest attendance averages between May 11 and June 3 will earn the ultimate reward: an official “Right Here. Right Now.” Block Party to celebrate the end of the year in style.
• For the Students: Individual consistency pays off, too. Any student with perfect attendance from May 11 through June 4 can enter to earn amazing prizes. On June 5, the final day of school, EPISD will be giving away electronics, toys, and more. (Note: You’ve got to Right Here. Right now. — winners must be present on June 5 to claim their prizes!)
While the prizes are the "cool" factor, the "why" is rooted in student success.
According to national education statistics:
• The Graduation Connection: Students who miss just two days of school per month, even in the final month, are significantly less likely to stay on track for graduation.
• Grade Impact: Chronic absenteeism (missing 10% of the school year) is one of the single greatest predictors of lower test scores and declining final grades.
Learning never stops. Absences in these final weeks don't just result in missed lessons; they can directly impact a child's final grades and their readiness for the upcoming year.
Are you ready to help your school win the block party of the year? Make sure your student is in class, on time, every day.
