(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT – May 21, 2026) — El Paso ISD’s partnership with the Parent Teacher Associations continues to strengthen connections between families and schools, creating a growing network of support for students across the district.
During Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting, district leaders and representatives from the EPISD Council of PTAs highlighted the ongoing collaboration between campuses, families, and community volunteers. It's a partnership focused on increasing family engagement, strengthening communication, and supporting student success across El Paso ISD.
“El Paso ISD is strongest when families and schools work together,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian Lusk. “Our PTA volunteers give their time, energy, and heart to our campuses every single day. Their partnership helps create welcoming school communities where students feel supported both inside and outside the classroom.”
The EPISD Council of PTAs, led by President Lauren Steinmann, currently supports dozens of campuses throughout the district, ranging from elementary schools to high schools.
Recently, the group held its PTA's Officer Installation and Awards Luncheon recognizing new leaders and showing appreciation to its members.
Throughout the school year, PTA volunteers dedicate thousands of hours to supporting literacy nights, family engagement activities, student celebrations, teacher appreciation events, campus beautification projects, and daily campus operations.
The collaboration goes beyond volunteer service. PTAs also help strengthen communication between schools and families by providing a consistent avenue for parent feedback, campus involvement, and community engagement.
The presentation also highlighted several recent accomplishments by EPISD PTAs, including national recognition from the National PTA and statewide honors through Texas PTA. Two local students had their artwork advance to nationals at part of National PTAs Reflections Program with one National PTA Award of Excellence.
In addition, the EPISD Council of PTAs earned Platinum Council recognition from Texas PTA last year and is again under consideration for the distinction this year.
The continued success of PTA programs reflects the commitment of parents, grandparents, educators, and community members who work together to support students throughout El Paso ISD.
"We know student success doesn't happen alone," Steinmann said. "It happens when families, schools, and the community come together to support our children and our campuses. There are many ways to make a difference, and the future of our children depends on all of us working together."
